5% tax on Remittance to India for Non- Citizens

Recommended Posts

Posted

A new tax bill currently under consideration in the U.S. House of Representatives does propose a 5% tax on all international money transfers (remittances) made by non-citizens. This tax would apply to a wide range of non-citizen groups, including green card holders and individuals on nonimmigrant visas such as H-1B, H-2A, and H-2B. U.S. citizens would be exempt from this tax.

If you are considering to transfer large amounts do it before July 2025

because you are supporting the economy of another country after making money here? The rates are determined after the expectation that the money will pump the local economy, right?

From an individual standpoint.. think of it from a global economy standpoint.. NRIs pampe remittance money tho, Indian economy lo impact chudu.. what are they giving back Indians in return? Desam baita vuntaru, veellaki response ichedi enti ane balupu.. government employees mundu velli chetulu kattukuni nunchovaali.. vaalla ego satisfaction kosam.. anni vadili pettukuni vellagalama? Those people need to be spit in their face.. I hope there are bigger penalities by other countries as well..

P.S. I know I am not thinking about retaliatory actions but Indians are spineless.
