Ordinance factories are now relieved from defense ministry’s red tape, Defense labs are now premier institutions, IIT’s are the new labs… New phase…Hopefully we will take advantage of this situation. It's economical in a war of attrition. S400 battery is good for jets not for stupid drones, from cost perspective. Future war is going to be asymmteric as well. Which is why I don't advocate fifth generation fighters like other posters on this DB. A swarm of drones can overwhelm a fifth generation fighter, very easily. Rafale is a good aircraft, but I think India should switch to SAAB GRIPEN. This move will boost India's s jet engine manufacturing capabilities. 1 Quote

IIT-Hyderabad is the new defence lab. Presently it has 9 verticals including material management and new product incubation happening at IIT-Hyd and instead of IIT, you can call it as DRDO-Ext. It is being supervised by former DRDO scientists. One of my cousin, graduated from IIt-Hyd and now works at MIDHANI… Almost all the IIT’s are now drdo’s extension facilities including IIT-M. Coming to Drones, CBN literally has nothing to do with. Yes, for a drone show but beyond that it’s Zero. BEL and few private players in Bangalore have advanced drones in the making already.. Quote
