Shameless Posted May 17 Report Posted May 17 Pre-Trial Release Denied for Aurora Chiropractor Charged with Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse of Two Boys in his Care DuPage County Stateās Attorney Robert Berlin and Aurora Chief of Police Keith Cross announced that Judge Demetrios Panoushis has granted the Stateās motion to deny pre-trial release for an Aurora chiropractor charged with sexually abusing two boys in his care. Murtaza Hameed, 46 (d.o.b. 2/1/1979) of the 0-100 block of Bunting Lane, Naperville, appeared in First Appearance Court this weekend charged with one count of Criminal Sexual Assault (Class 1 Felony), five counts of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse (Class 2 Felony), one count of Attempt Criminal Sexual Assault (Class 2 Felony) and one count of Misdemeanor Battery. In January 2025, the DuPage County Childrenās Center received information from the Aurora Police Department regarding an alleged sexual assault of a minor that occurred at a chiropractic office in Aurora. Following an investigation into the matter, it is alleged that on January 11, 2025, the victim, a seventeen-year-old boy, was receiving treatment from Hameed at his office located in the 3800 block of McCoy Drive, when Hameed sexually abused him. It is alleged that when the boy returned home from the appointment, he disclosed to his father what had happened. The boyās father immediately contacted the Aurora Police Department who in turn, contacted the DuPage County Childrenās Center. Through the course of their investigation, authorities also learned that a similar incident had allegedly occurred in 2016 involving a sixteen-year-old boy. āIt is alleged that a seventeen-year-old boy went to Mr. Hameed for chiropractic treatment but instead of receiving the necessary care, he was sexually abused,ā Berlin said. āThis type of extremely disturbing behavior will not be tolerated in DuPage County and will be met with the full force of the law. I commend the young victim in this case for disclosing what allegedly happened to him. I thank the Aurora Police Department, particularly Investigator Jennifer Hillgoth, for their efforts in this case as well as Investigator Bruce Malkin at the DuPage County Childrenās Center. I also thank Assistant Stateās Attorney Jennifer Lindt for her work in securing charges against Mr. Hameed.ā āThese are deeply troubling allegations involving the abuse of minors, and we take them with the utmost seriousness,ā said Aurora Police Chief Keith Cross. āI commend our investigator, the DuPage County Childrenās Advocacy Center, and Stateās Attorney Bob Berlin and his office for their tireless work on this case. Thanks to their persistence and collaboration, weāre hopeful that justice will be served and that others who may have been harmed feel empowered to come forward.ā Anyone who believes they may have been a victim or has additional information is urged to contact Aurora Police Investigator Jennifer Hillgoth at [email protected] or 630-256-5554. Hameedās next court appearance is scheduled for June 2, 2025 in front of Judge Brian Telander. Members of the public are reminded that this complaint contains only charges and is not proof of the defendantās guilt. A defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial in which it is the governmentās burden to prove his or her guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. 1 Quote
