Yes, in India you can follow any religion as you like and still belong to your caste. Court only says, on conversion those constitutional benefits of "SC" will not be applicable. 

SC itself is NOT a caste,  it's a "list" of Castes in the Indian constitution in its first "schedule" based on article 341. 

In Godavari districts you will see  Rajulu, Kammas and Kapus who follow Christianity as well. They go to church, have a Bible and all yet they retain their Castes too.

This entire BC reservation is a perpetual foolishness pushed on public. Reddies and Kammas are categorized as BCs in Karnataka. They avail reservation in Jobs, and studies as well. Kapus in TG avail BC reservation. 

All other castes that are not listed in SC category barring Tamil Brahmins, and Mudaliars (some sects) avail BC reservation in Tamil Nadu. 

Gujjara and Jats demand BC reservation in North and Ahirs are already using it. It's all a total fcukery made up after mandal comission.
