Anta Assamey Posted May 23 Report Posted May 23 The Enforcement Directorate (ED), which is investigating the National Herald case involving senior Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi — accused of misappropriating over ₹180 crore — has named Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy in its chargesheet. According to reports from New Delhi, the ED listed Revanth Reddy among several Congress leaders who allegedly facilitated donations to Young Indian (YI) and Associated Journals Limited (AJL), both subsidiaries linked to the National Herald. However, the reports clarify that Revanth Reddy has not been named as an accused in the chargesheet, which was filed on April 9, 2025, before a local court. The chargesheet primarily accuses former Congress president Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul Gandhi of masterminding a scheme to acquire assets worth approximately ₹2,000 crore belonging to AJL through YI. The ED alleges that Congress leaders — including Revanth Reddy, the late Ahmed Patel, and Pawan Bansal — pressured individuals to contribute to YI and AJL between 2019 and 2022, suggesting that non-compliance could adversely affect their political standing. The agency argues that these were not voluntary contributions but payments made in anticipation of political favours, and thus do not qualify as legitimate donations under the law. Quote
