I have a huge carbon filter after softener and tastes similar to RO water Softener water is not good to drink as contains high concentration of sodium. Thats why it feels soft due to high sodium. Carbon filter only removes chloramine found in municipal water which improves taste. Ideally install a reverse osmosis at kitchen faucet. Get RO that adds mineral catridge at last as RO removes all types of minerals from water Quote
