Billionaire Elon Musk announced that his time leading the Department of Government Efficiency, known as “DOGE," is drawing to a close. Elon Musk, who has been instrumental in the cost-cutting task force since its inception earlier this year, confirmed his departure from the Donald Trump administration in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

Elon Musk cannot work more than 130 days in the Trump administration because he was appointed as a "special government employee" (SGE), a designation created by Congress that limits such employees to working no more than 130 days in a 365-day period
