I'm not comparing but just telling the OP how much it will be spending monthly. 

he is making 6400$ after taxes

3500 goes for home

1000 will go health insurance and car 

1000 will go for groceries and eating out

500 for clothes, gas , amazon purchases , unseen expenses

now tell me what is he saving?

First of all that isn't the scenario here. If he made enough he wouldn't be thinking about 400k house.

Even if he made enough, being h housewife is just so not worth it mentally for ladies here in US. This isn't India.

Try to look for a job which has very less work for your wife.

My software job for example....not more than 1 hour a day work untundhi. Rest of the time I am busy reading books or researching stocks. The job before this also same.

If you can't get it, it's fine. But atleast try. If you get a difficult one, quit and look again. Don't spend more than 30 min a day in job search.

So 400k is cheap in your opinion? and in USA, there is no stay home mom or dad? Who is judgmental here? He asked a simple question, ur answer is outside of the scope tbh. There may be personal reasons for him to do what he does. Say if you know or stay calm. Whether India or USA, job is just a part of life, not the whole life

Debt to income ratio....add all ur monthly payments for car, credit cards etc. for credit cards, consider only minimum payment amounts. Divide that number with ur GROSS monthly income and that number should be less than 0.4.

@Sonu_Patel is right guy.. He purchased home during peak interest rates in 2023. He is paying biggest mortgage and escrow.
