Yuvasamudram Posted June 13 Report Posted June 13 I have a business travel to Asia and H1-B expired. Attorney applied for H1-B Renewal and mostly will receive the approval this month. Certainly I have to go for dropbox in India as attorney recommended home country. Company asked me to pay for the extra leg to India and I agreed as it is fair. I am also taking care of my wife and 2 infants expenses and flight tickets which is obvious. The question is company wants me to book everybody's travel through company travel website. The travel website is expensive and have terrible flight with bad connections. I asked if I can book myself and submit for just myself(technically cheaper than company travel website). Manager gaadu you will have to book through company travel portal as we get negotiated price ani saava minguthunnadu. Also hotel kuda cheap di book cheyyi ani saava dobbing. Inko comedy entante during dropbox while in India they want me to use Personal time off instead of remote work. Finally I said I will saving to $3400 USD + my 2 weeks of vacation by avoiding this business trip. Also asked company to figure out the strategy and let me know if they want me to travel or not ani. Is this common in corporate and anybody has such experience. Never experienced this before. Idi $0.5T company malli. Quote
nag Posted June 13 Report Posted June 13 asalu ey company kooda business + personal mix cheyadhu.. they don't take unnecessary overhead.. outside work ..like family travel ni include chestha antey recommend cheyadhu..your case is weird.. visa hassles vuntey they will look for alternative source for the business trip instead of you coming to your situation..just go by whatever they suggest.. I was thinking to isolate family bookings with mine but I need to have 2 adults to accommodate 2 infants on Itinerary. Quote

The caveat is I am draining my pockets because of business travel. There are two options me travelling and not travelling. Travelling -> I need to pay for partial flight fare because of extra flight to India, pay for my family and drain 2 weeks of personal vacation time while waiting for my passport after dropbox. On top of that I cannot even book for family separate since I have two infants and need two adults to book tickets for them. Overall $3500+ 2 weeks bokka. On top of that company portal lo book chesthe family ki nenu bankrupt avutha. Not-Travelling -> I save all of the above. My question iswhat does others do when they need visa to reenter while on business travel. Quote

A lot of companies do not even charge for the India leg if its not too expensive. We have a leisure arrangments in our company and a lot depends on managers. Most do not care. Quote

Well I am not expecting them to pay to India its not a fair ask.... because of all this the actual objective of project is not in focus. I felt my manager and I should be talking about how to accomplish objectives and not who pays for it if I miss a flight during the travel especially company pays for 1 leg and I pay for the other. 1 Quote
