Hyderabad-bound Lufthansa flight returns to Frankfurt Airport after bomb threat

The aircraft departed from Germany around 14.14 local time Sunday and was scheduled to land at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport early Monday.

A Lufthansa flight from Hyderabad was forced to make a U-turn and return Frankfurt  Airport on Sunday evening after it was not given “permission to land” in India due to a bomb threat, reported ANI.

The aircraft, a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner,  flight LH752 departed from Germany around 14.14 local time Sunday and was scheduled to land at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport early Monday. But flight tracker data showed a diversion a few hours into the flight.

 

A passenger on board the flight told PTI from Frankfurt Airport that they were being provided overnight accommodation as their flight was rescheduled for Monday morning.

“We just landed back in Frankfurt around 15 minutes ago and all we were told is that Hyderabad hasn’t given permission to land the flight there,” said the female passenger en route from the US to visit her mother in Hyderabad.

“It was a smooth flight and after about two hours in the air, we were told that we would be returning to Frankfurt. Now at the airport, they are providing us accommodation for the night and have told us that we will fly out tomorrow morning at 10am on the same flight,” she said.

While Lufthansa has been approached for further updates and reasons behind the aborted flight, a Frankfurt Airport spokesperson confirmed that LH752 had landed back in Germany.

“We can confirm that there was a return to Frankfurt Airport. For further information, please contact the Federal Police or the airline,” the spokesperson said.

Earlier tracker data for the flight showing it was en route to Hyderabad was updated just before the updated landing information for Frankfurt.

Air Traffic Control (ATC) at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport received a message that the flight was returning to Frankfurt a short while after it had taken off from the German hub airport.

Saudi Airlines flight averts major mishap during landing at Lucknow airport

A Saudi Airlines flight narrowly dodged a major mishap at Lucknow airport on Sunday morning after it faced a technical glitch during landing, according to News18.

The plane was carrying Hajj pilgrims when sparks and smoke erupted from the aircraft’s landing gear as it touched down on the runway around 6:30 am.

The pilot promptly brought the aircraft to a halt while the plane was taxiing on the runway, and the airport’s fire and rescue team responded immediately.

The flight SV 3112, had departed from Jeddah at 10:45 pm the previous night with 250 Hajj pilgrims and crew members onboard.

Initial probe indicates a hydraulic system leak as the cause of the malfunction. All passengers and crew are safe, and no injuries were reported

Air India flight to Ranchi returns to Delhi due to technical issues

Air India Express spokesperson said: "One of our flights returned to Delhi after takeoff due to a suspected technical issue."

An Air India Express flight from Delhi to Ranchi, scheduled to land at Birsa Munda Airport at 6:20 PM on Monday, was diverted back to Delhi.

Confirming this, an Air India Express spokesperson said: "One of our flights returned to Delhi after takeoff due to a suspected technical issue."

"Post inspections and clearance, the aircraft continued scheduled operations," the spokesperson added.

Air India flight from San Francisco to Mumbai suffers technical snag; passengers deplaned in Kolkata

The captain informed the passengers that this decision was made in the interest of flight safety.

An Air India flight from San Francisco to Mumbai encountered a technical issue with one of its engines, which required passengers to deplane during a scheduled stop at the airport early on Tuesday.

Flight AI180 arrived on time at 12:45 AM but experienced a delay in takeoff due to a malfunction in the left engine. At approximately 5:20 AM, an announcement was made instructing all passengers to deplane.

 

The captain informed the passengers that this decision was made in the interest of flight safety.

An IndiGo flight from Kochi to Delhi was on Tuesday diverted to Nagpur after bomb threat, according to a report by CNN-News18

An IndiGo flight from Kochi to Delhi was on Tuesday diverted to Nagpur after authorities received a bomb threat that specifically mentioned the flight number, according to a report by CNN-News18.

According to the report, a meeting was immediately convened as per standard operation procedures (SOPs) after the threat was received. A detailed check is currently underway on the said flight -- identified as IndiGo 6E 2706 -- by security personnel in Nagpur and so far, nothing suspicious has been found. By the time the threat was received, the aircraft had already departed from Kochi.

The threat about the IndiGo flight, which departed for Delhi with 157 passengers and six crew at 9.31 am, was received on the official email ID of the Cochin International Airport Ltd (CIAL), according to a PTI report. Subsequently, a Bomb Threat Assessment Committee (BTAC) was convened and the threat was declared as "specific", CIAL said.

After the completion of security checks, the flight will proceed to the capital.
