Hello fellow desi expats!

I’m from good old South India tollywood, where we don’t just watch movies – we give our blood 🩸, sweat 😅, and monthly salaries 💸 to build fans associations for our gods:

 

🙏 Chiru

🙏 Chiru’s brother PK

🙏 Chiru’s son Ram Charan

🙏 NTR

🙏 NTR’s son Balayya

🙏 Balayya’s son Jr NTR

🙏 Krishnam Raju & his son Prabhas

…and the entire Mega-Nandamuri clan (basically a bigger family tree than the Mahabharata 🤣).

 

Obviously, I expect my kids here in the USA to also worship these Tollywood legends like divine avatars.

 

But my Americanized kids have the audacity to call me “stupid” for treating them like gods! 😤

 

They say – “Dad, they’re just humans acting on a screen.”

 

🤦‍♂️ Clearly, these kids have no idea what mass elevation scenes and slow-motion dhum dhum bgm do to our souls!

 

Then yesterday, my 9-year-old hits me with a philosophical uppercut:

 

“Dad, if tomorrow AI creates a realistic human video that becomes a blockbuster, will you start doing pooja & aarti, aarti, palabhishekam( pouring milk on cutouts) for that AI actor too and form.fans associatiin for that too?”

Any of you wise expats have advice? Or should I start preparing garlands for ChatGPT 2.0? 🤣🤣
