You need to learn the reasoning behind it. Modern banking system controlled by z10n$ts have untied the currency from gold in 1971, through Nixon. After that, it's pretty much Fed printing $$, in what we call the modern "fiat" system. The inflation started to explode and so did debt. Now, land is a good hedge against inflation, the other being gold.

Kammas are an agriculturalist class that turned into business class. Once ardent socialism supporters, most moved into businesses sensing opportunity during early liberalization. Those that moved into the Capitalist West realized, how governments encourage speculation and gentrification of land. The same is being done in India. RBI adopted fiat from the time of liberalization , tying rupee to the $ meaning GOI officially adopted the policy of "inflation". Once you see a pattern, you see an opportunity being traditional agriculturalists Kammas found a new  repurpose of land was found early on, and it played well for them so far.

This pattern is not limited to Kammas alone though. Pretty much of agrarian land holding castes, such as Reddies, Gowdas/vokkaliga, Kurmis, Jats do the same.  The key is gentrification of land and "speculation" associated with it, to which holding power is a MUST.
