Mr. Gandhi said he would put before the people and the Election Commission in black in white on how the "theft of votes" is being done. His remarks came after it emerged that during house-to-house visits in the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll in Bihar, poll officials have so far found that more than 52 lakh voters were not present at their addresses, and another 18 lakh have died. "It is not just about 52 lakhs. It is not just about Bihar, they cheated in Maharashtra. We have asked questions of the Election Commission, asked them to show us the voters list, but they did not show us the voters list. We asked for videography, they changed the law. One crore new voters had come in Maharashtra, and the election was stolen," Mr. Gandhi told reporters in Parliament House complex. “In Karnataka, we have found out ‘bhayankar chori’ (massive theft). I will show it in black and white to you and the Election Commission. I will show in black and white how the ‘chori’ is done and from where. We have it in black and white in Karnataka,” the former Congress president said. "They know that we have understood their game. We picked one constituency and did a deep dive. Problem is that they give a voters list on paper and paper list cannot be analysed. We took the full voters list of one constituency, we put it on digital format, it took six months but we have uncovered their whole system, how they do it, who votes and from where new voters are brought," Mr. Gandhi said. He said the Election Commission has understood this and has brought in a new system in Bihar which is that to delete voters. "In India elections are being stolen that is the reality of India," Mr. Gandhi alleged. Sharing a video of his remarks on X, Mr. Gandhi said, "We showed everyone how match-fixing happened in Maharashtra. We investigated one Lok Sabha seat in Karnataka - large-scale votes theft was found, we will soon bring it before the public." In Bihar, votes of SC, ST, OBC, and minority brothers and sisters are being stolen in the name of SIR , he claimed. "We will not sit quietly. The INDIA bloc will fight the battle for people's rights from Parliament to the streets," Mr. Gandhi said. The Opposition has been protesting in both houses of Parliament against the SIR, alleging that the EC's exercise was aimed at disenfranchising voters in Bihar ahead of the Assembly elections. Quote

His comments came a day after he alleged that “elections in India are being stolen”. “We just looked at one constituency and we found this. I am absolutely convinced that constituency after constituency this is the drama that is taking place. Thousands and thousands of new voters, how old are they? 50, 45, 60, 65 [years] new voters. Thousands and thousands of them in one constituency. This is one thing... voter deletion, voter addition, new voters who are way above 18 (is going on)... So, we have caught them,” Mr. Gandhi alleged. “I want to send a message to the Election Commission – if you think you are going to get away with this, if your officers think they are going to get away with this, you are mistaken. Congress leader and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, on Saturday, intensified his criticism of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Election Commission of India (ECI), alleging that the 2024 Lok Sabha elections were “rigged” and that the electoral system in India has “collapsed”. Speaking at the Annual Legal Conclave-2025 in New Delhi, Gandhi claimed his party had uncovered “open-and-shut” proof of large-scale electoral malpractice. “The truth is that the election system in India is already dead,” he said. “The Prime Minister is in power with a very slim majority. If 15 seats were rigged, he would not be Prime Minister today," he further noted. Gandhi reiterated that his party’s investigation had uncovered evidence of systematic vote manipulation, which he described as an “atom bomb” capable of shaking public confidence in the electoral process. “We did our own investigation. It took six months. What we found is an atom bomb. When this explodes, you won’t see the Election Commission in the country,” he said. He also accused the ECI of complicity, claiming it failed to assist in their probe. “Votes are being stolen. And the Election Commission is enabling it for the BJP,” Gandhi alleged, warning that even retired officials involved in the process would be held accountable, calling the conduct “no less than treason”. He further claimed that in Maharashtra alone, one crore new voters appeared between the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections, with the majority voting for the BJP. “Now I say with absolutely no doubt that we have proof,” he remarked, lashing out at the poll panel. The Congress leader also questioned the BJP’s victories in states like Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat, describing the opposition's complete rout in assembly polls as suspicious. “Three formidable parties suddenly evaporated,” he said, hinting at coordinated electoral manipulation. Notably, just a day earlier, Gandhi had slammed the ECI for indulging in “vote theft” and issued a warning about explosive revelations, prompting a response from the poll body. Soon after, the EC, in a statement, rubbished his claims as “baseless” and “irresponsible”, asserting that its officials continue to work impartially and transparently despite daily threats. The Commission also noted that Gandhi failed to respond to an official communication sent on June 12 and had not raised any formal objections through proper channels. Separately, at the same conclave, Gandhi rejected slogans calling him “the king of this country”, stating, “No boss, I’m not the king. I don’t want to be one.
