All those were as good as baseless allegations. But 2024, the way things turned out has raises serious questions. Not on the working of EVM’s but the way EC organized the elections. More number of votes counted than polled, delay in uploading form-23’s, Burning VVPAT’s even before they could take a sample and count, changing SOP’s , not following SC’s orders, etc. 1 1 Quote

Teluguredu Posted August 3 Report Posted August 3 Yeah it's obvious , bjp has already isolated congress from other allies ,only way to break this is through major upheaval like split in bjp or international influence. Quote

andhra_jp Posted August 3 Author Report Posted August 3 EC's neutrality questionable; Oppn wants discussion in Parliament: Gaurav Gogoi Gogoi, who is also the deputy leader of Congress in Lok Sabha, questioned the BJP-led central government's decision not to allow a discussion on the EC even though the Chief Election Commissioner is appointed by it. Gogoi also claimed that there have been instances of electors visiting a polling station during voting, coming to know that their names are missing from the list. Senior Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi on Sunday alleged that the neutrality of the Election Commission is questionable, which is why the opposition parties want a discussion on the revision of the voter list in Parliament. Speaking to reporters before the start of the Extended Executive Meeting of the Assam unit of the Congress here, Gogoi, who is also the deputy leader of the party in Lok Sabha, questioned the BJP-led central government's decision not to allow a discussion on the EC even though the Chief Election Commissioner is appointed by it. "Today, there is a question mark in the minds of the people regarding the neutrality of the EC. That is why we want a discussion in Parliament. The government is trying to hide something. What is it? Is it their manipulation in the last assembly polls and Lok Sabha election?" the Assam Congress chief asked. Gogoi said the Opposition wants an open discussion in Parliament regarding the voter list, which is being revised in Bihar. "The common people should know the status of their voting rights and details of polling stations. We want a discussion on this, but the government is saying they cannot discuss the matter. "Their logic is that the Election Commission is not related to any department. This is an absurd logic because the Chief Election Commissioner is appointed by the PM and government," he added. Gogoi also claimed that there have been instances of electors visiting a polling station during voting, coming to know that their names are missing from the list. Speaking about Operation Sindoor, the Congress MP said, "The Union Home Minister did not even give minimum respect to the deceased of the Pahalgam terror attack. People died because of intelligence failure of the agencies under his ministry, but they did not apologise to the people. That's their nature." The Extended Executive Meeting of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee began here on Sunday morning. All party MPs, MLAs and senior leaders of the state unit participated in it. In the meeting, the strategy for the upcoming assembly elections in the state will be discussed threadbare, an official said. Assembly elections in Assam for 126 seats are likely in March-April next year. "The meeting will adopt two resolutions. One will be political and the other will be economic. These will be prepared keeping in mind the upcoming assembly polls," the party official said. Quote

andhra_jp Posted August 3 Author Report Posted August 3 ECI’s SIR exercise is ‘an insult to migrant workers and gross interference in right of electorate in Tamil Nadu’: Chidambaram “If the migrant worker’s family has a permanent home in Bihar and lives in Bihar, how can the migrant worker be considered as ‘permanently migrated’ to Tamil Nadu?” asks Mr. Chidambaram Former Union Home Minister and senior Congress leader P. Chidambaram on Sunday (August 3, 3025) said that the ‘Special Intensive Revision’ (SIR) exercise carried out by the Election Commission of India (ECI) is “an insult to the migrant workers and a gross interference in the right of the electorate of Tamil Nadu” to elect a government of its choice. Mr. Chidambaram said the SIR should be fought politically and legally. Mr. Chidambaram made the statement on social media after reports suggested that around “65 lakh voters are in danger of being disenfranchised in Bihar while 6.5 lakh persons have been added as voters in Tamil Nadu”, calling it alarming and patently illegal. He asked, “Why should the migrant worker not return to Bihar [or his/her home State] to vote in the State Assembly election, as they usually do? Does not the migrant worker return to Bihar at the time of the Chhath puja festival? A person to be enrolled as a voter must have a fixed and permanent legal home. The migrant worker has such a home in Bihar [or another State]. How can he/she be enrolled as a voter in Tamil Nadu?” Mr. Chidambaram further said, “If the migrant worker’s family has a permanent home in Bihar and lives in Bihar, how can the migrant worker be considered as ‘permanently migrated’ to Tamil Nadu? The ECI is abusing its powers and trying to change the electoral character and patterns of States.” Quote
