You wouldn't see Mirchi farmers, onion, Tomato farmers breaking into tears. What India is doing currently is a demand squeeze, by encouraging middlemen in mandis/market yard system. Say a mirchi farmer can directly sell the produce to a supermarket in Delhi/Bombay/ Banglore from Guntur. All the middlemen cutout from the supply chain. Quote
