You cannot ignore the fact that good grades get you to good universities and better opportunities. Alumni is a big thing in US and it’s a good network. 
At the end of the day, kids don’t listen to you and will do anything to get good grades and that includes cheating as well. 
So it’s all immaterial in the end. Their logical thinking will develop one way or other. These concepts are useless once you starts working. But basic math is what’s used and mental math is important.

Oh Sorry , Below average of a 2 standard state curriculum. I  know I don't have to for my 2 grade to be above average of 3 grade, but I don't find a reason for sending a kid to the same 2nd standard math again when he is getting the same at school.  I guess you understand, I don't have to go to Disneyland if it same to same as our local amusement park.

Let me give you a simple example.

How do you do 2 digit multiplication?

Say 84 x 35

They way they teach is to multiply 84 with 5 and then in the next line, put a placeholder and then multiply 84 with 3 and then add up the 2 numbers.

Sounds harmless but sets a dangerous precedence. 

They don't tell why a place holder is being put. And this keeps getting repeated in every concept. Their main concentration would be on volume.

I have looked at their booklets and the entire booklet for the week would have just 1 or at the max 2 trick questions. Rest is just blind practice. Proper way is to do more trick questions(25-30%)....so many that basic questions would be a breeze.

Take a look at Singapore math. Much better.

Grades without substance vs Grades with substance is a huge difference.

Logical thinking won't develop if you take away the opportunities for it to develop.
