Don't send your kids to Best Brains or Kumon!

You have a huge mental block which prevents you from putting yourself in others shoes or to go a layer deep to find the actual truth. Its the same in every post.

I can't keep repeating the same thing over and over and you move on to a new point everytime I post a rebuttal. Not worth the time.

Let's agree to disagree and move on.

It’s the other way around.
Anyways let’s move on.

Oh Sorry , Below average of a 2 standard state curriculum. I  know I don't have to for my 2 grade to be above average of 3 grade, but I don't find a reason for sending a kid to the same 2nd standard math again when he is getting the same at school.  I guess you understand, I don't have to go to Disneyland if it same to same as our local amusement park.

Meh, i think revision will only solidify their learning. not sure what standard you are talking about. Take a particular topic and the public school teaching is limited from what I saw. My kid wasn't doing good with word problems before going to best brains, meaning she didn't get the concept. It clearly helped her.

Batti   is not bad in our days of limited free information. But with calcualtors and laptops mandatory usage from 1st grade here ,dont see a need for memorizing any math formulas and calculations.  In fact memorizing anything is waste of time unless it's part of a process or method.

There is no more value in flaunting knowing silly dates of when gandhi was born or ww2 happened and equations in classes work any more. It's all about application of these(when ,where and how to interpret these ).  if it is must, spend and send to  RSM (at least I heard they go more behind the scientific part of why in maths)

They don't tell why a place holder is being put. And this keeps getting repeated in every concept. Their main concentration would be on volume.

I think this will depend on the teacher and where parent involvement is needed. No teaching is complete without our input.

I have looked at their booklets and the entire booklet for the week would have just 1 or at the max 2 trick questions. Rest is just blind practice.

The thing I liked is how they would approach a concept in different ways and what it's actual meaning is. could be other institutions do better, didn't explore more. Between Kumon and BB I liked BB.

Agree...revision is always helpful.

But the best brain standard only stops there.  Kids will surely benefit when sent to best brains.

My point here is that kids will benefit much more if they are sent to a place where critical thinking and logical reasoning are valued.

guys what do you think of Huntington Learning Center?

I am thinking of opening either a Kumon, or Mathnasium or HLC. Not sure about best brains and others.

Would you suggest Huntington learning center? any experiences?

Not a very low investment franchise, so want to make sure I know what I am getting into.
