ChanceCoffeeLover Posted August 8 Report Posted August 8 Anyone know of kids who attended or attending any of the following universities. These are small universities. These have very less Asian student population and majority is white. University of Wisconsin - La Crosse University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire University of Minnesota - Duluth Tennessee Tech University Any drawbacks in attending such schools where majority is white. For example La Crosse has close to 90% white students. This is for Undergrad in CS. Also what if Indian kids don't get Indian roommates for dorm's. Worried about drinking and drugs. Or it is safe to avoid such schools. Quote

Also, kids make friends of their own kind. It will be easy for kids to have friends with same background, same food habits, same culture. So that it will be easy on them living by themselves for the first time. 1 Quote

No idea because as I mentioned these are small universities with very less grad students. They have 90% undergrad students. These schools have good CS programs with reasonable cost of attendance. This is not for admission purpose but for kids to have someone with same background to hang out with, make friends easily. 1 Quote

Ok. This is good information. Was considering them as cost is reasonable and want to do as little debt as possible. But will consider more state schools. Quote
Tyrannosauraus_Rex Posted August 8 Report Posted August 8 My reply is not specific to your question. The question should have been any drawback in moving to the US which is a majority white country? Forget about even a White country - any drawback in moving to a country which does not share your cultural, religious values? If being with "similar" "familiar" people is that important - staying in India would have been the easier option. Quote
DonnyStrumpet Posted August 8 Report Posted August 8 There is no point in sending your kid to those small schools. They will neither get right kind of exposure nor the quality education. Send them to schools in big cities such as university of Wisconsin Milwaukee or UW Madison. Quote
