Why You See Your Data on “Multiple Sites”

 

 

There are a few reasons your data might appear in more than one place:

 

• Third-party services reselling TWN access: Some background check or verification services plug into TWN and then display the data on their own portal. It may look like your info is “spread around,” but technically they’re pulling it from TWN.
• Data brokers: Even though Equifax says TWN is only for verification, some employment data leaks into broader data broker ecosystems (through partnerships, credit reports, or indirect sales). This is why you sometimes see your job title, employer, or salary ranges on marketing or “people search” sites.
• Past authorizations: If you ever applied for credit, benefits, or jobs, those companies may have pulled TWN records. In some cases, copies of your data are retained in their systems, not just in Equifax’s.

They aggregate your work history based on your payslips or when employer reports (which is rare). Some employers wont even share pay history so you wont see that employement.

Even if you support 100 clients it will only show your employer name. If you have multiple payrolls running thats a different story.
