It's relative. Compared to West, and other other relatively young countries in Middle East, and even compared to countries like Malaysia, Thailand, India has it tough for middle class and lower middle class especially for boys. 

Rote learning, and needless completion, because compromised governments made India a cesspool of deficit education and industry based on leftist orientation wrt. Gender, caste and religion. The same government made India a net importer and a net labor exporter to cash on the labor arbitrage.
