An interesting story of a strong women

It is identical to the issues with Wonder Woman and Superman. While Hal and Carol are perceived as being destined to be together, Superman and Lois are expected to be together, and any change will be met with complaints about things not going as planned. While the romance aside, I must admit that when Johns was writing the GL book, I didn't enjoy Carol as much as I did in the New Guardians book.

She is traversing the cosmos and kicking ass instead of staying around on Earth worrying about Hal or searching for people to find him. She even goes on an ass-kicking rampage in search of Kyle once he disappears. She even took the stage in a few issues, including one when she spent the majority of the issue without Kyle. I enjoyed the Kyle/Carol narrative because it shows how strong Carol is and how she is essentially the foundation of that relationship, but I would have preferred to see her as powerful as she was in New Guardians when she was with Hal.

A shallow interpretation of both characters that disregards the necessity of a humanizing effect is Superman/Wonder Woman. In essence, it says, "I'm strong. You're strong. Without taking compatibility or other fundamental factors into account, we can be strong together. Iris and Barry's connection was strong, but it would be like bringing in Jesse Quick and matching her with Barry just because they are both fast.

The most frequent criticism I hear about Carol and Kyle is "dude... you don't do that to a bro." There, the supposed "Guy Code" infraction is more significant than Hal and Carol.
