At the organisation’s State secretariat coordination meeting, JAC’s State chairman Bopparaju Venkateswarlu and secretary general P. Damodara Rao raised serious concern over the government’s attitude towards resolving employees’ and pensioners’ financial and non-financial problems. Pointing out that payment of arrears to the tune of ₹30,000 crore was pending, they said many retired employees were reportedly dying without receiving their retirement benefits, which was highly deplorable. As it was done in the past, gratuity and leave encashments must be paid on the day of retirement itself, and surrendered leave encashment dues should be cleared immediately, they said. They strongly criticised the non-functioning of the Employees’ Health Scheme (EHS), stating that employees and pensioners were unable to avail medical treatment, and some were even losing lives due to lack of proper healthcare facilities. The leaders demanded the immediate release of pending DAs, arrears of pensions, and the appointment of PRC Commissioner as a Dasara festival gift, clearance of RTC employees’ long-pending promotions for which the Chief Minister had already given the green signal, regularisation of contract employees, salary hike and government scheme benefits to outsourcing employees and resolution of long-pending issues of village and ward secretariat employees. The leaders reminded that these demands were already placed before the Chief Secretary during the Joint Staff Council meeting held last month and urged that they must be taken to the notice of the Chief Minister without further delay. The meeting unanimously resolved that all affiliate unions of A.P. JAC Amaravati should conduct their respective State-level conferences and district tours by November 30 and strengthen the JAC at all levels. The JAC’s associate chairman T.V. Phani Perraju, co-chairmen P.S.S.N.P. Shastri and G. Sivananda Reddy, vice-chairmen Y.S. Malleswara Rao and V. Arlaiah, treasurer K. Sangeeta Rao, organising secretary T. Nageswara Rao and publicity secretary B. Kishore Kumar were present. Women’s committee chairperson P. Lakshmi, secretary general P. Vijayalakshmi, associate chairperson S. Shivakumar Reddy and others were present. Quote

Mr. Venkateswarlu told the media that no discussion had taken place with the employees, though the pending dues piled up to thousands of crores of rupees. “Though several cabinet meetings and festival seasons passed, the government has apparently no intention of taking up our issues for discussion,” he said, hoping that the Dasara festival would augur well for the employees. The employee leader demanded formation of a Pay Revision Commission, settlement of Dearness Allowance (DA) and PRC dues, besides the issues raised by the contract, outsourcing employees and pensioners.
