Not at all….both the families were very powerful and this rivalry goes back to 70’s and 80’s…shekar reddy vs gangula pratap reddy…

The rivalry in bhuma vs gangula is due to subcaste . Gangula are from motati , bhuma are pedakanti . We are Motati reddys , but my cousin sister married Sv subba reddys grandson ( shobha nagireddy brother son ) though they are pedakanti reddys . Nowadays the subcaste issue is less important and factions are dying out .

Kethireddy family is motati too , vs JC family who are Pakanati . Katasani vs Bijjam in Kurnool is Kodithi ( katasani ) vs neravati ( bijjam ) . YSR family is Kodithi subcaste , they had Annareddy family ( Pedakanti ) as rivals . Same subcaste rivalry is very rare .

what are these subcastes ? we have reddies in my ancestral village with surname pakanati, and usually village people used to refer them as peda reddys or asal reddys, and remaining reddies as kapu reddies.. never understood the history behind that. was always curious when i used to visit my village.

But again my ancestral village is deep inside in telangana warangal district, and we have no links with any seema area.

Generally speaking , there are a few major reddy subcastes . Telangana mostly has motati , gudati , pakanati and gone . Rayalaseema has pakanati , pedakanti , motati , kodithi ,neravati . Nellore has panta , pakanati and desuri subcastes .

Velanati , motati and pedakanti in ongole , guntur . Bhumanchi in godavari districts and Oruganti / Akuthota in some Chittoor and Nellore areas .
