ErraBook_monagadu Posted September 26 Report Posted September 26 Key provisions of the American Tech Workforce Act Replaces the lottery system: The bill would replace the current random lottery system for H-1B visas with an allocation model based on the highest salaries offered by employers. Visas would be awarded to the employers who submit the highest bids. Increases the wage floor: It would more than double the minimum required salary for H-1B visa holders, from the current $60,000 to $150,000, or the average U.S. salary for a similar role, whichever is higher. The wage floor would also be adjusted annually for inflation. Ends the Optional Practical Training (OPT) program: The bill would eliminate the OPT program, which allows international students on F-1 visas to work in the U.S. for a period after graduation, often at a lower cost to employers. Limits third-party assignments: It would restrict the placement of H-1B workers at third-party job sites to a maximum of one year. This is aimed at addressing outsourcing practices that critics say undermine local jobs. https://www.congress.gov/bill/119th-congress/senate-bill/2821?overview=closed 2 Quote

Historical evidence Nee confidence susthunte muchatesthondi. I have been living here since 2008. There was never a time in history since then, that dems and reps agree on one immigration issue so far. But everyone is onboard with this topic. Will be interesting to see if corporate lobby works or public interest. 3 Quote
