Awaiting the release of JD’s ‘Siddham’, Jagapathi Babu is also planning his forthcoming ventures in earnest. With ‘Akasamantha’ nearly complete, he will be enacting in the direction of Madhan and a sequel to his yesteryear hit ‘Gaayam’.

Jagapathi Babu had a brief chat with the media and speaking about the sequel, he said, “I have been committed for two films so far. While working with Madhan for ‘Pellaina Kothalo’, I felt his flair for knowledge and ability in the nuances of direction. True to my verdict, the movie was a hit and bought me fame. So, I signed up a new project entrusting his talents. I will be working for a sequel for Gaayam which will be directed by RGV’s pupil, Praveen.”

More than a decade back, ‘Gaayam’ directed by Ram Gopal Varma was a super hit in Jagapathi Babu’s career. The role of an underplayed godfather bought out the true acting talent of the artist. Recently, it was made as ‘Sarkar’ in Hindi followed by ‘Sarkar Raj’ which didn’t garner enough attention. For now, the sequel has been confirmed and along with Jagapathi’s role, the characters of Revathi and Urmila will be retained to bring in the classic feel. In the lines of his mentor, Praveen is being expected to live up to the expectations generated among the film goers.
