This is not alarming actually. Don’t get mislead with the figures but once you break down the figures, you will see the actual picture. The trade gap indeed is alarming but at the same time, the kind if imports is also diversifying.

For eg: A decade back, common and everyday items like FMCG, disposables, consumables, etc used to be major part of the imports.

But that trend has changed significantly. We do not import toys like we used to do, finished goods import nundi semi-finished goods. Eg: Paints as it ga import chesukovadam nundi ipudu paint ki kavalsina fomulations ni import chesi, final mxing and packing India la chestunam..

Biggest take way : machine tools import. This can be a gamechanger for us.

Another observation : Semi finished goods imports are growing, suggests our locla assembly units have been importing more than ever suggests an increasing demand with in. Such demand helps in long term local manufacturing.
