I would say below are two important factors one need to consider 

1) FIRE number  - be in rat race until you get there, then you come out, slow down, find something less stressful 

2) Plan for post retirement -whatever may be that age, you need to have a plan on what to do with your time.

Both are equally important. Its 1& 2 not 1 then 2.

I have seen folks wasted just because they have the money but don't know what to do with their time and that's very dangerous. 

Coming to my answer - 45 to come out of rat race provided I have a plan afterwards. Otherwise, will continue to work until I figure out.
