For a long time, film producers have been troubled by the misuse of ratings and reviews on BookMyShow. The biggest issue has been that users can post reviews even without purchasing tickets. Over time, organised groups allegedly turned this loophole into a business, using bots and coordinated campaigns to damage or artificially boost films.

This concern has been raised multiple times by producers. Recently, when a film faced severe impact due to such practices, the makers openly expressed their anger and disappointment. Earlier, producer Naga Vamsi had also spoken in an interview about how producers were sometimes forced to spend money just to protect their films from these rating manipulations.

Now, things have taken a new turn with the upcoming release of Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu. For this film, BookMyShow has disabled ratings and reviews completely. The platform has displayed a note stating that this decision was taken as per court orders.

With this move, bots and fake accounts will no longer be able to push extreme negative or positive ratings for Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu. The planning and legal process behind this decision reportedly went on for several weeks before finally being implemented.

The production house Shine Screens thanked Ai Plex and Blocking Big for taking the initiative and helping bring this change into effect. The team acknowledged their support through a public message.

In the past, BookMyShow ratings were often misused by anti fans to damage films. On the other hand, some average films benefited from inflated ratings, which later helped in securing higher OTT and satellite deals. From both angles, this step is being seen as a healthy and much needed change.

A ticket booking platform is meant to sell tickets, not to influence a film’s fate through unchecked reviews and bots. While ratings and reviews remain active for other films, Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu has now set a precedent.
