Nris are not eligible for Aadhaar. If you stay for 183 days, you become a RI.

Everything runs on money. Collectors aa bokka. Paisalu tinetolle.

No the rules are updated. The 183 day rule now applies to non indian citizens like people with OCI cards

i applied in october and got it by end of december. Applied using my passport as identification document which has my USA address and then once AADHAR got approved paid 75 rupees online snd changed to my parents address in india

it does take up to 180 days for the whole process

Aadhaar NRIs ki kuda istunnara?

Giving Aadhaar to people who are not Indian citizens doesn't make sense!

Bro there are people who have usa passport but settle in india… an example would be our kids if we ever plan to move so for them it makes sense since every other thing in india is linked to aadhar … especially digital payments. Its like a SSN which can be used as an identification

i think this rule came in early  2025 . Check UIDAI site,When i went to enrollment center the person saw my passport and he advised i should use a different form for nri’s as that is recommended for enrollment

  • Thanks 1

Adhar is card for residents, it does not give any indication on citizenship status. so, if you stay in india for 180 days, you are eligible for it.

There is a demand from OCIs to reduce it to meaningful practical limit of 30 to 50 days.

You stayed for 180 days right?  you applied in Oct, but when did you go to india before applying? verification is going to MROs these days. my case went, but said without 180 days they cannot approve it, scared. money is mandatory anyways.

I didnt. Stayed for less than 30 days.

went in september and returned mid october. I’m not sure about the verification process steps but i did see the updates on aadhar portal in the time frame my app was approved

did you stay for 180 days before applying?
