Mr Telangana Laxman Reddy, has won the title of Musclemania Mr World Heavyweight in the 80 kg category at the Mr World Bodybuilding Championships held in Las Vegas on November 20 Laxman’s journey began at 16.
Hailing from Peddamberpet, the 25-year-old had come to the city to accomplish his dreams.
Three years ago, he met Kiran Dembla, who was also involved in fitness. They used to roam around the city hunting for job as a coach. Two years back , they decided to do i t on their own.
“We decided to open a gym of our own. Due to lack of finances, we had to take a loan. Laxman had a lot of knowledge of fitness and body building,” opined Kiran, who is now Laxman’s partner in their gym, Sweat Zone. Initially they had started at a small place in Ameerpet.
But due to customer demand, they moved their fitness centre to Begumpet.
Since then, there has been no looking back.
Ask Kiran as to when did Laxman’s journey towards attaining the Mr World title take off, and she promptly adds, “Four months ago, Laxman won the title of Mr Telangana, and it was then that members of the body building federation of Hyderabad and Mumbai took notice.”
All participation formalities were taken care of and he began his training. “He is very particular about his regime and diet. I have seen him work very hard to reach this place.” reminisced Kiran.
“It is like a dream come true. I am very happy for Laxman,” said Kiran. Sponsored by KCR and his daughter and many others, Laxman is now waiting for results of the doping tests.
Once the formalities are done, he will get his prize and celebrations can begin at home.
