Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Aminul Islam has stated that Bangladesh will take part in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 if the International Cricket Council (ICC) change their mind and relocate Bangladesh’s Group C matches out of India. Islam’s reaction comes a couple of hours after the ICC rejected Bangladesh’s request to shift their T20 World Cup 2026 matches away from India due to security reasons.

In fact, the ICC has issued a final deadline to Bangladesh and informed them to confirm their participation in the T20 World Cup 2026 within 24 hours or they will replaced by another country.

“I am hoping for a miracle from the ICC. Who doesn’t want to play in the World Cup?" Aminul was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.

“We can’t really comment after the ICC’s press release. The meeting went on for an hour and a half. We explained to the ICC board the reasons for our decision before the voting began. We didn’t want to go into voting. We stepped back," he added.

According to him, Bangladeshi players want to feature in the T20 World Cup 2026, and the country’s government also wants the team to play in the T20 World Cup.

“The Bangladesh players want to play the World Cup. The Bangladesh government wants Bangladesh to play in the World Cup. But we don’t think India is safe for our players," he said.

“We asked them (ICC) to shift the matches to Sri Lanka. We said that we can switch with Ireland or Zimbabwe. It would have been the easiest way. But Sri Lanka said that we don’t want a new team in our group. After the vote, I told them that I want one last chance to tell my government. They said it’s a valid point and gave me 24 or 48 hours to get back to them."
