GDP disparity is here because of the population. If you normalize that for population, the difference would come down a lot. Two other factors are Delhi being the capital, Centre (the largest tax collector), has enormous spending power and with Mumbai, port plays a pivotal role. 

It's nothing to do with research.

Hyd pharma has multiple people working in it. Not just odiya people. A lot of Telugus, North guys work in it as well. The reason for expanding manufacturing capacity in Costal Andhra in the North has to do with cheaper land prices and lax pollution norms due to low population compared to Hyderabad.

Hyderabad has its existing pollution problems already due to pharma. Divis in Choutappal, Dr. Reddy's in Bollarum, Hetero in Suraram, Polepally, MSN shadnagar are already polluting a lot. The pressure from public will go up even more, if they expand capacity here.
