After 'Shocking' the audiences with his debut film, Harish Shankar offers Mirapakay, not as an accompaniment or a side dish but as a complete platter. He has rectified his mistakes and makes an engaging film that might not crackle like previous Ravi Teja movies but definitely keeps your eyes glued to the screen. What makes the film tick is he balances the theme, gang wars evenly with romance and doesn't give a cause for complaint. At one point you feel romance takes centre stage and the actual story is pushed behind. So much that you wonder that romance is the main theme and the cop-gangster story is just a filler. That is what makes the story move.

The fights do come back in the finale but it's wound up in a hurry in a very simple fashion making you wonder why did the director build up the plot so much for such a simple climax. The film coasts along breezily as a no-brainer and Ravi Teja is on the forefront reeling of his dialogues and coming up with some whacky expressions. The energy is intact and he is supported by a good screenplay. Two heroines, not so recent give the screen a fresh look. It doesn't matter if Deeksha Seth is too tall and dances awkwardly or Richa Gangopadhyay dresses up in traditional wear but leaves her hair, both of them do add to the vibrance of the story.

Sunil appears in a clichéd role, his combination with Chandra Mohan does tire you as you've already watched it before but the fact he reappears after a gap doesn't tire your eyes. Raja Ravindra and Brahmaji impress in the little time given and so does Ali. Mirapakay is not promising but it offers several enjoyable moments, the action episodes notwithstanding. A good time-pass festival film and you won't come out cursing the director
