Jan. 13: The Central Crime Station police on Thursday questioned film producer and buyer Mr C. Kalyan about his links with Maddelacheruvu Suri, who was gunned down ten days ago, and Bhanu Kiran, who is the prime suspect in the murder and is presently on the run.

“I don’t have any personal links with the two and met them during the filming of Rakta Charitra. Since I was buyer and presenter of Rakta Charitra I was with the crew and they helped us find locations in Anantapur,” said Mr Kalyan.

The CCS police questioned Mr Kalyan for over an hour. As soon as he came out of the police station, Mr Kalyan had some stinging words for the media.

“The media should crosscheck facts before running scrollings (scrolling headlines on television). It’s wrong to say that I am not available even though I am. I have provided all the information that the police wanted and will assist them in all aspects,” he said.

“We questioned him as part of the investigation,” said the CCS DCP (crime), Mr J. Satyanarayana. “News that the police had arrested seven people involved in Suri’s murder is false,” said the police commissioner, Mr A.K. Khan. “We are questioning people. Several teams were dispatched to other states. They are gathering information.”
