ballmart Posted January 24, 2011 Report Posted January 24, 2011 January 21, 2011To: Members and Friends of the ITU CommunityRe: Recent Publicity Regarding a Nearby UniversityThere has been considerable publicity in the last few days regarding another university in Northern California and the actions by the Department of Homeland Security. As much is still unknown, it would not be appropriate to comment on the circumstances of that university’s issues with the Department of Homeland Security. It is important however to emphasize to all of you that International Technological University (ITU) takes very seriously its role as an institution of higher learning. We uphold high standards and maintain a strong commitment to our student’s academic and personal success.ITU is registered with the Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education (BPPE) and approved to offer the Master’s degrees in several specialties of Business Administration and Engineering. Similarly, ITU is authorized by the Student Exchange and Visitor (SEVP) program of the US Department of Homeland Security to issue I-20s for hosting international graduate students to pursue our state approved graduate degrees.ITU has hosted visits by SEVP staff to show them how the university operates to ensure that our educational quality standards are rigorously maintained. We have been very pleased by the responses and comments from these external reviewers regarding how the university carries out our responsibilities and we have assured them that we will continue to maintain these standards vigorously in the years ahead. These responses affirm the integrity of ITU’s academic programs and administrative operations. The faculty, staff, administration and Board of Trustees of ITU are committed to maintaining the highest levels of academic and operational quality, which keeps this university on the proper path to our goal of long-term success for the institution and for our students. Please do not let the apparent disregard of the rules of proper conduct by others cause any doubt in your mind that ITU would ever waiver from our commitment to abiding by the regulations as they apply in all academic and operational aspects of university life.I wish you all a happy and prosperous 2011!Regards,Yau-Gene ChanExecutive Vice-President and CEO
