sid_22 Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy on Monday predicted that the Congress was set to come back to power after 2014 elections as the administration was geared up to effectively implement the schemes launched during late Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy's tenure.Dropping indications that his government was not facing any threat, he claimed that ‘Rachabanda' would be the stepping stone for the Congress' victory in the next elections. The Chief Minister was launching the 20-day-long ‘Rachabanda', a mass contact programme, at Dolapet village near Rajam. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation in coastal Andhra while the response was mixed in Rayalaseema. Pro-Telangana activists, however, obstructed the programme almost all over the Telangana region.Addressing a public meeting at Rajam later, Mr. Kiran said the government was committed to implementing all welfare schemes launched in the last seven years. In a speech marked by repeated mention of YSR, the Chief Minister said he was among those who worked for rebuilding the Congress party with active support of the late Chief Minister. The Congress party came back to power in 2009 under the able leadership of YSR and it was the responsibility of everyone to complete his unfinished tasks and schemes.Accordingly, the government would distribute assets worth Rs. 2,500 crore to beneficiaries through pensions, ration cards, Indiramma houses and Arogyasri as part of Rachabanda.
