Microsoft: 'over 2 million' Windows Phone 7 licenses sold to manufacturers so fa

Microsoft just dropped a few tidbits of knowledge on us regarding Windows Phone 7's performance in the marketplace so far. Here's what we've got:

'Early research' says 93 percent of WP7 customers are 'satisfied' and 90 percent would recommend the platform to others. We don't know details about the research, though -- number of customers polled, time frame, so on.

Average of 100 new apps in the Marketplace per day, and over 6,500 total are available right now.

Most importantly, "over 2 million" licenses have been sold to OEMs around the world.
[b]Microsoft's earnings call is tomorrow where we expect to get more detail on the platform's performance, but the company is saying today that it sees plenty of reasons to be "bullish about the foundation for long-term success" here -- and considering that they simply can't afford to fail in the mobile game, we hope they're right.

windows7 phones are refreshingly fresh...
but they have to improve the apps and few other things..
but the interface is fresh and really good...

Why hope they are right?. Obviously, there are two mobile platforms that are successful Android and iPhone. There is too much code out there for these Applications to be ported to Microsoft. And besides what reason there is to use anything other than Android. The license is Open, so any one can use it. Unless you are talking about ideological reasons, i see no reason why WP7 would be a success. I myself like, many other ppl consider WP7 dead before it is even born. There is absolutely no justification for the platform to even exist. Thanks Microsoft. But, no thanks. On the other hand i am happy about their eMIPS port. Also, one should not forget the fact that Blackberry ( No #1 is smart phone market world wide is going to use Dalvik VM, there by giving it the advantage of running Android Apps on their QNX based Kernel. ).

Solaris, Did u ever try WP7? How u spoke to someone using Wp7?
I tried wm6.5 then android and now wp7 on same device HD2. WP7 is fluid in UI. I like it better than iOS.
Problem with android is , on XDA u have hundreds of builds.. Every app has it's own UI. And some apps work on froyo, others do not.. same  goes with Gingerbrd. Is a samsung device works with an app, HTC won't.. go to market on the device and see app reviews.
Free/Cheap is not always better... Windows still leads though linux is free.. same goes with office > open office.
I don't agree "WP7 failed before launch"
Apps? eventually it will catch up.. no OS had a million from the start.
congratulations MS.
