seeking guidance on travelling!!!!

Hi Friends...I seek some guidance from mine friends here on this blog. I am an International Student and my OPT is coming to an end in mid-feb. 2011. I have a urgent purpose to be in India and leaving in the first week of feb. I am planning to get an admission for double masters before I leave. I have my Visa till 2013 (F1). I would like to welcome suggestions, if it would be safe for me to travel and come back before the semester starts in March. Also I have heard about port of entry issue...is it better to stay away from Newark and JFK? And please friends I request you guys to reply in English as I am not familiar with Telugu.
