Suriya walking out of Shankar’s Nanban which is a Tamil remake of 3 Idiots has raised many eyebrows. Vijay is back in the movie and Suriya moved on to his other commitments. Why did Suriya walk out of the film despite Shankar showing keen interest in casting him?

There are different stories that are being circulated now regarding Suriya’s exit from Nanban. It is rumored that Suriya asked for Telugu dubbing rights in addition to his regular paycheck, for which Shankar and the producers didn’t agree. Gemini Film Circuit bought the Telugu and Tamil remake rights of 3 Idiots for an astronomical price and planned to make both the versions simultaneously.

But Mahesh Babu and Vijay, who were the first choice of 3 Idiots remake, have walked out of it due to various reasons. Then the makers thought of remaking it with Surya in both the languages. But Suriya’s demand for Telugu dubbing rights put them off as it is commercially not viable for the producers. Others say that Suriya opted out of it as his friend Vijay requested him that he wanted to get back in the film. Whatever might be the reason, All is well with Nanban now.
