Hyderabad, Feb 2: “There is nothing wrong with the acidic comments made by the Congress senior leader, Mr G Venkatswamy against the AICC supremo, Ms Sonia Gandi", the former minister, Mr Mareppa has said.

Speaking to mediapersons in the Secretariat, Mr Mareppa said that instead of clarifying his allegations, the Congress leaders were making counter allegations against Mr Venkatswamy. “It is not correct in politics. First of all, the Congress should clear the matters raised by the Congress senior leader. There was a need to take positive attitude to the remarks of Mr Venkatswamy”, he opined.

Mr Mareppa said that he was removed from Cabinet by holding him responsible for the defeat of the Congress in ZPTC elections in his district. Though Mr D Srinivas faced defeat in two consecutive elections from Nizamabad district, he was continuing as PCC president, he said and questioned the disparities and discriminations being continued in the State Congress.

"Unless the functioning of the party was not changed internally and externally, the Congress would meet the same fate like it faced in Bihar", he cautioned.
