southyx Posted February 5, 2011 Report Posted February 5, 2011 *=: *=: nice thread Guys, chala mandhiki anipisthundhi chala cheyyali ani. But manam mana country nunchi ekkado dhooram ga unnam. Nenu oka chinna simple info chepthanu emi chyyagalamo. Interested and capable people, can do this. One is about donating education to tribal people. It is noble cause. Edhi Ekal Vidyalaya ani oka foundation dhwara cheyyavachu (http://www.ekal.org/). All you need to do is donating $365 using credit card or online banking. Once the donation is received they find a teacher (educated tribal person) from tribal area and use that money for the kids there for an year. This way, you are providing education and also employment to one person in the tribal area. I guess, you can also follow the progress of the school and know the details about (a few months back nenu chesanu, april lo naaku school allot chestharu).Another is way donating food to children. It can be done through Akshya Patra (akshayapatra.org). This foundation, serves meal to 1.2 million children in a day. Can you imagine that? 1.2 million kids in a day. You can also donate for this using credit card (I think it accepts Indian credit cards or online banking, when I tried using my u.s credit card, it didn't go through, so I used my ICICI online banking). Some of the people who have face book account can also find more info about those foundations in face book also. These are small things for some of us we can do. Educating and feeding these kids (the little sons of our mother India) through small amounts (much less than 500$).At least in the end you don't feel guilty of not doing anything to our country. You feel that at least you finally started something. Every journey starts with one single step. If you feel capable and willingness you can continue your journey further.
southyx Posted February 5, 2011 Report Posted February 5, 2011 Btw, another small info, these foundations are charitable recognized by U.S govt. You can claim the tax benefits when you file your taxes at the year end.
