The state government introduced a GO 110 on Thursday, granting the license to sell online movie tickets for all theatres in state to Galaxy Entertainers Pvt Ltd. The organization is owned by Ramana Babu.

According to the Government Order, fifty percent of the tickets of all the theatres should be provided to this agency for sale. The license is valid for 10 years and Galaxy Entertainments will collect an additional amount of Rs.6/- on each ticket towards service charges. The order also states that it is mandatory to allot space for Galaxy Entertainers in movie halls to sell the unsold tickets two hours prior to the show.

Regarding to this new order, theater owners are discontent with the government’s decision. They said that this will aggravate the issue leading to a monopoly and deteriorate the existence of companies. Now, plans are on to file a counter case against the order in High court.

On the flip side of the coin, government defends their decision saying that this is to facilitate the transparency of ticket sales to evaluate the volume and bring evasive tax payers under control.

The government has also permitted Beyond Basiks Infotech Pvt Ltd to sell online thickets in 42 theatres in city. For now, the order is just introduced and yet to be passed to come into vogue.
