MLK edhava jeevitham Posted February 8, 2011 Report Posted February 8, 2011 Tri Valley University Student UpdatePlease check this link regularly for any updates on the next steps you need to take. As soon as we receive official guidance we will update this page immediately. We at The University of Findlay understand the confusing situation you find yourself in. You are worried about your future here in the U.S. as no one has clear answers on your legal status and if you will be able to continue to pursue your dreams of education and finding employment here. As school officials across the U.S. we too do not have clear guidance from the government on how to handle your SEVIS record. We are patiently awaiting that guidance to arrive any day now. You can find the latest guidanceyou need here. Any new information we receive will be posted here as soon as possible. If this page does not change since you’ve last checked it it’s because we have not received any new news. Please check here first before calling our office.Latest UpdateJanuary 28: SEVP and SEVIS have both been contact on how to handle student SEVIS records. Both agencies have responded that official guidance would soon be given to universities. NEW UPDATE! February 8, 2011: SEVP has sent official guidance on how to handle the situation with TVU students. If a TVU student wants to continue their education they need to apply and get accepted as normal into a new university. Once the student is accepted into the university, the DSO (International Advisor) at that university needs to contact SEVIS to have the students record fixed. There are two possible situations that could happen.1) If a student had taken classes at TVU then the record can NOT be fixed which means the student is out of status and would need to return home as soon as possible. There is nothing that can be done.2) If a student was accepted at TVU but never took classes there because they were to begin in the Spring 2011 semester then SEVIS will review that students case BUT THERE IS NO GUARANTEE that the record will be fixed. Each student will be reviewed by SEVIS on a case by case basis. Further questions can be addressed to the DSO of the university you desire to go to.The Situation as it Now StandsAll TVU students have had their SEVIS records terminated at that university. Schools who have transferred you from their school to TVU cannot cancel the transfer or get your record back from TVU.Schools do not have access to your SEVIS record at TVU and are not able to “bring back” your record.SEVIS has to fix the record but as of now they have no instruction on how to fix the record from the government agency SEVP.What You Need to DoYou need to continue to maintain your F1 status to the best of your ability. This means you must find a school to apply to and receive acceptance from as soon as possible. While the school may not know how to handle your SEVIS record yet, you should do as much as you can do by applying for the next available semester/quarter. At that point the most a school can do is accept you into their program. They are unable to issue you a new I20 until they receive official guidance. Both the school and you need to remain patient until that happens. There is no guarantee at this point that even if you are accepted that you will be able to continue. SEVP could decide all TVU students need to return home and reenter on a new I20 or that their records should be handled on a case by case basis. We have no way to know.https://www.findlay.edu/NR/rdonlyres/03634031-2CD4-45C6-A653-3E473974B627/0/TriValleyUniversityStudentUpdate.pdf
