nanibabu Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 The state government decision licensing Galaxy Entertainments for selling 50 percent of tickets in all the theatres through out the state is incorrect. The decision will disastrously affect the film industry, opined popular producer Ashwini Dutt. Speaking about this biased order, he said, “Already the industry is in a recession with lowest number of hits per year. This new decision made by the government will have an even more negative impact burdening the industry. The crowd is quite meager due to piracy and this policy of giving sole rights to a single organization like Galaxy will make viewers refrain themselves from coming to the theaters. The hike in ticket prices is one more addition to this list of cons. In a way, it’s like legalizing tickets in the black market in the name of an organization.” ‘A good move will be to look into this decision and revoke it for the betterment of the industry but not shoo away the few people who are coming to visit the theater. If this comes into vogue, it will be a disaster for Tollywood. In short, there should not exist, intermediaries like Galaxy, between theater proprietors and viewers’.
