katharnak Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 NEW DELHI: The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has proposed tax incentives for agricultural activities to the government in the upcoming budget session 2011-2012. The chamber has suggested that the incentives would help attract more participation from private sector in the agriculture industry.The chamber further added that the government should also provide extra tax incentives on the expenditures like incorporating new technologies and services in the agriculture sector. In addition, a proposal of offering incentives on soil testing, crop raising practices, diagnostics as well as residue analysis by the government was also put forward."CII has recommended encouraging private sector participation through various tax measures (in agriculture)," said, CII in an issued statement. As per the reports, the agriculture sector as well as other allied sectors is expected to show an upsurge in its growth this fiscal by 5.4 percent in comparison to 0.4 percent in the last fiscal, 2009-10.
