The figure says that 291.80 lakh hectare is the region in which the crop has been sown.This figure stands way ahead than the figures last year when wheat was sown in 8.56 lakh hectares till February. The area for pulse has also gone up to 151.22 lakh hectares, an increase of 10.97 lakh hectare. Oilseeds acreage increased by 3.47 lakh hectares to 96.96 lakh hectares. Both these crops showed a noticeable rise as compared to the figures of February last year.As on 4th February last year, the total acreage of foodgrains has gone up by 11.73 lakh hectares. This year the figures stood at 527.02 lakh hectares as compared to 515.29 lakh hectares last year. Jowar, rice and maize also registered an increase in acreage area this year.
