Facebook – it's bloody everywhere, isn't it? You'd think there were some industry sectors that would be resistant to the power of the Mark Zuckerberg-created social network – the motoring world being one of them. But no, even our glorious industry has decided to engage with the Facebook machine, a prime example being Porsche’s recent unveiling of a Facebook-inspired version of the GT3 R Hybrid. Does it get a thumbs up from us? Actually, it does!

Any particular reason why Porsche has coated the desirable GT3 R Hybrid in Facebook's colours? Well, according to the German sports car marque, its fan community on Facebook reached the "magical milestone" of one million fans at the beginning of 2011, so Porsche thought it would thank its fans (not followers, because that would be Twitter) by creating the customised GT3 R Hybrid you see in the picture above.

Along with its Facebook-inspired finish, this special edition 911 GT3 R Hybrid features the names of around 27,000 fans (leaving 973,000 others disappointed) and is currently on display at the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart, Germany.

We were going to tail off this article by making some Facebook-related comment about “poking a Porsche”, but then we realised that may be deemed inappropriate and leave us in a lot of hot water. So, instead we're going to recommend (haha, we’re funny) that you save yourself a trip to Stuttgart by clicking (that’s clicking, not poking) the link below. Go on, you know you want to!
