katharnak Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 MUMBAI: The Centre has recommended an idea to cut down wastage of food grains and also to feed the poor people by bringing down expenditures in weddings and other social functions, stated a reportConsumer affairs minister K V Thomas has also said that nearly 15% of all type food grains and vegetables in the country get wasted in the extravagant functions, and hence the government wanted to unveil a piece of legislation in parliament soon to control this situation.The ministry has also started discussions on a legislation modelled on the Guest Control Order of the 1960s. According to this order, the guest numbers were restricted to regulate the wastage of food items. Moreover, the restriction will help the Centre implement the Food Security Bill as early as possible.
