Foundation stone of Panasonic India Jhajjar unit laid

NEW DELHI: Panasonic India has announced that it laid the foundation stone of its largest manufacturing unit in country at Jhajjar. Mr Deepinder Singh Hooda, member of parliament, Haryana, Mr Rajeev Arora, MD, Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) was present in the occasion along with other representatives from Panasonic.

The construction of this manufacturing unit will start in April and it is expected to be completed by April 2012. This new unit will be manufacturing air-conditioners, washing machines, welding and cutting machines after March 2012, with an investment of about US $200 million. The products will be fulfilling the demand of the domestic market.

Mr Daizo Ito, president - Panasonic India, said, β€œThis manufacturing unit will be part of our consolidation in India. We have a growing confidence in the Indian market, and the response from our consumers. India is a very important market; especially for the global Panasonic direction. This manufacturing unit is definitely an important part of our business strategy in India. The manufacturing unit, which is spread over 76 acres, will be Panasonic's first 'eco ideas' Factory in India.”
