Peugeot may set up its manufacturing plant in Gujarat

AHMEDABAD: Peugeot, France-based auto major is planning to set up its manufacturing plant in India. The company and its officials have shown interest in acquiring land in Gujarat after a lot of research and exploration. The land requirement for the complete setup is approximately 150 acres.

“A delegation from Peugeot recently visited us. They have evinced interest in setting up a plant in Gujarat, for which the land requirement was told to be 150 acres. We have shown them a site in Bol village near Sanand, which is a proposed industrial estate, to be developed as an automotive hub by the Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC), near Tata's Nano plant. A final decision is expected to be taken soon by the Peugeot headquarters," said, the official.

Guillaume Page, Inward Investment Officer of Embassy of France in India also confirmed that Peugeot is looking out for land to set up plant in Gujarat. He also mentioned that around 200,000 people are employed in approximately 700 companies from France in India.
